COMPOSITE BATTLE VR INTERNATIONAL HACKATHON
VR technologies make it possible to participate in labs both remotely and in person, thus providing opportunities to partner with foreign educational institutions and promote Russia's best educational practices around the world.
The project implemented by Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation Scientific and Educational Centre of Bauman Moscow State Technical University introduces digital competences and skills to the educational process in materials science and composite technology considered to be high priority engineering fields. Currently, the composites market is seeing rapid growth and is a key element of Industry 4.0, a trend towards implementing digital technologies into manufacturing and production processes. This technological transformation requires engineers to develop their IT knowledge.
To solve some of the urgent industry problems, it was decided to organise and hold a world VR composites championship and VR composites labs. This VR competition will promote digital literacy among the younger generation and develop flexible skills in students. Due to VR format of the competition, less space is required to accommodate laboratory and educational equipment due to the use of computer-simulated models. As a result, the event is safer and does not require expensive equipment and harmful chemicals.
